Just Single Parents is a UK-based site which aims to connect single parents who are looking for dates. There are thousands of members, each with a detailed profile, and the site allows you to take an in-depth personality quiz, helping to match you to other members. Sister websites for Ireland, South Africa and Australia are also available, but this site is really just for UK members.
Creating a profile is free and easy. You can complete a unique, heavy duty profile page with plenty of personal information, or opt to skip through sections of the sign up procedure and fill them in later. This does mean that some profiles are pretty thin on the ground when it comes to information, but the majority of people have taken the time to complete their profile page with sufficient detail.
Members can check out the new “encounters” section of the site, which is a simple game. You look at a photo of a member, click “yes”, “no” or “maybe” (depending on whether you like the look of them) and if they click “yes” back to you then the site puts you in touch with each other. This is a low-risk way of making sure you get to chat to a few people who find you mutually attractive.
As well as good looks, the members are interested in someone with a decent personality. This is a single parents dating website, so expect the members to have children and busy lives. Therefore, lifestyle, hobbies and perspectives on life can be really important factors when someone decides whether they would like to know you better. The site supports this by allowing you the space to include extra information on your profile page, as well as specific details about your living environment, lifestyle and more.
Contacting members is easy. You can send a private email-style message, or chat using a live chat feature. Video options are available, but you can only record a video clip as an introduction to your profile page, rather than using the webcam to chat. However, if you do hit it off with somebody then there’s nothing to stop you from sending your Skype details.
Just Singles has an “On Location” events guide which tells you about events they’re running around the UK. This is your opportunity to meet up with members in the flesh, in a safe and secure environment, offering the chance to take things to the next step if you choose.
JustSingleParents.com allows you to upload diary entries, about dates or life in general. You can also follow other members’ diaries to find out how their lives are going and whether you might share any common interests. Unfortunately there are no forums or chat rooms, which might have provided a space for members to talk in groups.
Probably our biggest issue with Just Single Parents is its price. It was already a bit expensive, and prices have risen since our last review. The 12 month contract is pretty affordable and in line with other dating websites, but the month by month option is going to add up to be quite substantial.
If you’re a single mum or dad in the UK and you’re looking to meet some similar people, potentially going on a few dates, JustSingleParents could be a useful site to visit. It’s unfortunate that the website is a bit expensive (single parents often don’t have loads of expendable income!) but if you take out a longer contract or don’t mind the large bill for a month or two, it’s worth a shot.
