SingleMums.org helps single parents to meet online. It provides tools to locate people who fit your preferences, as well as communication features to help you to talk. You can also share your thoughts and feelings using the site’s diary features. 

Creating your profile is simple and you can skip sections which you wish to fill in later. You can include plenty of personal information, even down to your favourite meal or hobbies. This provides you with a good opportunity to share your thoughts and important elements of your lifestyle, particularly if your kids play a pivotal role in your life.

Single Mums feels a little more vibrant than some similar single parent dating websites. Whilst some sites focus on parents in their 50s (or older), Single Mums has more of a varied clientele. You can quickly see a member’s age, location and current relationship status as you browse the site, helping to weed out members who won’t appeal to you.

As well as browsing the site, you can perform a detailed search to find members who suit your preferences. The search allows you to break down who you’re looking for, even down to the length of their hair. Alternatively you can receive recommendations from the site, or play the “Encounters” game, which connects you to members if you’re mutually attracted to each other.

If you want to chat right away, you can check the “who’s online” section of the site, where plenty of people seemed to be waiting to chat. You can visit their profile, read their diary entries (if they have made any), request photos, send icebreaker messages and more. However, if you wish to send a message you’ve written, you’ll have to upgrade your account. 

If you read several reviews in the Single Parent Dating category, you’ll see that several of the websites are very similar in terms of their tools and membership. So, is there anything that sets SingleMums.org apart from its peers? Well, although it doesn’t offer the best value possible, it is cheaper than some of its competitors. Given the similarities between these sites, there’s a payoff to gauge between cost and how popular the site is, so it’s worth checking a few of them before deciding which one to go for. 

Our searches returned a good number of results, with enough locals to get us started. Unlike some other dating websites, where fake accounts can be a problem, we were happy to see that the members in our search results were genuinely living where they said they lived (some had photos in those locations, as proof). Whether or not they’re paying members who can chat with you, is another matter.

Although it’s a bit cheaper than several similar single parent dating sites, Single Mums still doesn’t do enough to wow us. It has the tools in place, but needs more development in terms of extra features, improved membership numbers and creating a sense of community through incorporating articles, chat rooms and forums. If you do find paying members who you like the sound of, though, you could do worse than signing up here.
