Net Mums Dating is a UK-based dating website for single parents. It offers a personal space for members to write about themselves, including diary entries, plus the ability to build a list of your favourite members. You can upload photos, provide a video introduction to your page and more. 

Net Mums Dating feels fun, with colourful pages and an easy-use system. You can sign up very quickly, opting to skip sections of the profile creation session, which you can then return to later. If you upload a photo you can also make an introduction to a member for free, allowing you to find out if you’re in with a chance.

Unfortunately, though, this website feels less developed than others on the market. There are no forums, no blog posts, little in the way of advice and virtually no community feel. If you want to meet up in person, you’ll have to arrange that for yourself as the site offers no events to attend. Using the website can therefore feel like a bit of a lonely experience.

There are several communication tools to choose from, which is good because it gives you a few options when it comes to chatting. You can send email-style messages or winks, or start up a live chat. Whilst you can upload a video to your profile page, saying hello and introducing yourself, you cannot use your webcam to chat to members. 

Finding members who might suit your personality and lifestyle is pretty easy. You can fill in your complete profile to receive suggestions from the system, which matches you with other members based on your preferences. Alternatively, you can search for members, using a relatively in depth search engine. Members can search for particular habits (drinking and smoking), beliefs (religious or otherwise) and lifestyle qualities (how many children you have, where you live and so on). This means it should be easy enough to find people who suit your preferences.

Unfortunately, though, our searches didn’t quite offer the results we were hoping for. When trying to find people in a major UK city, we were having to search a bit further afield to get enough results, widening the scope out for a good 50 miles or so. This isn’t great if you want to find someone local.

Another factor which might dissuade you from using NetMums.com’s dating pages is that this service is quite expensive, particularly considering it lacks a few features. Longer contracts are cheaper per month, but the short term contracts will soon add up. You could easily join a site with more features and members, for less money. There are a few other websites (such as Mums Date Dads, Single With Kids Dating, and Dating After Kids) which are very similar to Net Mums Dating, so it might be worth comparing their prices and search results to decide which one is best for you. Of them all, though, this one is the most visited.

If you try the site out and find a few people you like the look of, it might be worth paying up so that you can get in touch with them. However, it’s not clear how many members are paying and can reply to your correspondence, so there’s a certain risk attached.
