Dating For Parents feels like many other decent dating websites. You can chat, search for members, share photos and more. However, it is focused on the UK market, and has a few extras which set it apart from the crowd. A new “events” page allows you to find local dating events and buy tickets online, and you can also upload videos to your profile. 

The search feature helps you to find members and is more advanced than most. Finding a local member is particularly easy, and you can easily get in touch with anyone you find. Prior to upgrading to paid membership, you are restricted to only being able to view profiles and the thumbnail profile picture. 

Profiles are quite detailed, which is helped by the registration process. There are optional details to complete, including a fairly substantial personality profile (or quiz) which allows you to clearly identify who and what you’re looking for in life. This data can then be used to match you to other members.

Once you’ve found someone you like the look of, it’s probably time to register fully. Unfortunately you really can’t communicate until this is done, with the exception of being able to send a single free icebreaker message or a wink. Prices are very reasonable, and you can try a 3 day paid trial if you’re not sure whether to take out a longer contract. 

Building a friends list and a blocked members list will help you to control who can get in touch with. You can also restrict access to particular photos, and request access to private albums. Mail can be sent if you wish to talk in private, or you can get in touch using the instant chat messenger. Alternatively you can try to meet people in the site’s various chat rooms.

Since this is a UK-based single parents dating website, membership tends not to leak outside of the isles. However, this is to your benefit when it comes to the events pages, which will identify dating events going on in your area. You can easily book tickets to these events online, which is particularly useful if you meet a few people on the site and wish to meet up in a safe and fun environment.

DatingForParents is a little let down by its online customer service. The FAQ is minimal and there’s no instant chat to get help from the team. You can send comments to them using an in-site message, but it all feels a little lacklustre. 

The main barrier for DatingForParents.com is its unwillingness to allow free members to explore the site more fully. If  free members could view larger photos, maybe even send and receive messages for a limited period, they’d get a better chance to understand what the site has to offer. The various restrictions become irritating, irrelevant of how good the site might be. Still, if you do sign up for free and like what you see, you can easily try these features out for a small fee.

Everything considered, this website could be a really useful resource for anyone in the UK who wants to meet another single parent. Its profile building is in depth, meaning that people can find you based on your personal connections, and its events pages could be a great idea for meeting up offline.
